Pacific Process is an independent professional services provider in Project Management and multi-disciplined Engineering Services. Its team has an average of over thirty years’ experience at the top level of international food processing technology. This includes experience in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, China, Middle East, North and South America, Western Europe and the UK.
Pacific Process is structured whereby key staff members are either partners or associates and share in the risks and rewards of the business through ownership and/or profit sharing. This drives an appropriate level of care, commitment and an attitude that largely allows the business to be self-managing, within a set of approved operating and quality control procedures.
Pacific Process is owned by three full time shareholders and directors; their profiles are provided below. Also included are the respective General Managers represented in the three main Pacific Process jurisdictions, being New Zealand, Australia and the USA. KEY PERSONNEL;
MICHAEL COTTER
Mike is a founding Director of Pacific Process Limited, Managing Director of Pacific Process Pty Limited and Chief Executive of Pacific Process US Inc. He is a professional engineer, specialising in Food and Dairy processing technologies with a B.Eng. (Chemical and Materials) and a Diploma in Dairy Science and Technology from Massey University. Mike’s strong, strategic project leadership has been refined through thirty years’ experience in manufacturing and contracting for the demanding food, beverage, pharmaceutical and dairy industries. Prior to setting up Pacific Process, Mike held senior positions with New Zealand Dairy Board, Fisons Pharmaceuticals, AMEC, Nalco, Ashton Project Services and Tetra Pak New Zealand. He has driven through a diverse and challenging range of capital projects from conceptual design to completion. Mike combines his enthusiasm for new technology with astute people management and real-world supply chain experience to deliver innovative and practical project solutions with a quantifiable return on investment. Never willing to settle for less than the best, Mike goes to extraordinary lengths to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget. Long-term client relationships are a hallmark of Mike’s career with Pacific Process, having worked successfully with some of our clients for more than ten years. What’s his secret? Mike understands that systems and project management discipline is important but fair contracts, clear open communication and an experienced project team is what makes successful projects. Mike is a director and shareholding partner in the Pacific Process Group of companies which means he has a lot riding on his clients being satisfied.

CAMPBELL SHEARER
Campbell is a founding director and Managing Director of Pacific Process Limited. He has a B.Eng. (Mechanical) from Auckland University and a Diploma in Dairy Science and Technology from Massey University. Campbell has amassed more than twenty five years’ experience in the food and dairy industry where he has held a number of engineering leadership roles stretching across Asia, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand. Campbell has led successful projects for such global companies as Siemens and GHD. He is not fazed by complexity or tough deadlines – he once took on the management of a team that successfully designed, built and commissioned seven dairy facilities within twelve months. His impressive track record is peppered with examples of projects that have resulted in dramatic sales and business growth. His expertise includes business setup and development, operations management, product development, process engineering, and project management. He is also skilled in business financial analysis and general management so he will always have an eye on the bottom line and will ensure his team provide value for money. Campbell is a certified Company Director and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors. He has recently held several dairy industry leadership positions and is a respected advocate and advisor in all facets of the food and dairy supply chain from farm to customer.

ANDREW SMITH
With a background and qualifications in electrical and automation engineering, Andrew possesses twenty five years’ experience within the dairy and food process engineering industries. His thirteen years at Tetra Pak NZ Limited saw him initially involved in the design and implementation of electrical and automation systems for a wide variety of process projects. He rose through the ranks quickly into process engineering, project management and to eventually become Plant Engineering Manager for Tetra Pak New Zealand. Andrew was responsible for a high calibre team of project managers, engineers and contractors implementing up to 25 simultaneous projects. During this tenure, he developed his expertise in all aspects of dairy and general food process engineering, and in particular filtration technology – covering microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis plants. In 2005, Andrew became a founding director of Pacific Process where is food industry experience grew to include baking, confectionary, wineries and water purification. Today, he combines his extensive dairy and food processing knowledge with his outstanding project management and implementation skills. Add to this his understanding of all things electrical and automation, and he can offer Pacific Process customers the complete turnkey package. Andrew’s ability to develop project tools and systems and his exacting standards are just two of the reasons he’s in demand by leading food and dairy producers. Andrew is always committed to successful project completion and brings his best game to every client whatever the situation.

DEAN DRAYTON
A graduate of Massey Universities Bachelor of Food Technology, Dean has fourteen years’ experience in the sanitary food process industry. This experience has been gained with two leading multinational process engineering companies; Tetra Pak New Zealand and APV New Zealand. Starting his career as a heat exchanger design engineer and product manager, Dean has an excellent understanding of thermal processes and heat recovery systems. Dean’s experience, initiative and impressive development saw him move into the project & plant construction arena. Where he was involved with a number of pasteurizer upgrades as well as heat recovery systems. Specialist industry experience includes milk treatment plants inclusive of separation and standardisation, butter processing and packing, fruit juice and brewery processing, aseptic processing, evaporation, drier feed systems and membrane processing. Prior to joining Pacific Process, Dean managed APV New Zealand’s process engineering department for three years where he was responsible for a team of project managers, engineers and contractors implementing up to 20 simultaneous projects. Through sound process knowledge and project management skills in a wide variety of applications and technologies combined with experience as Engineering Department Management at APV New Zealand, Dean offer’s expertise with an extensive knowledge platform to assist clients with delivery of projects any project he is involved in to the benefit of the project stakeholders ensuring their objectives are understood and met. Dean is currently General Manager of Pacific Process New Zealand.

JOHN MEIKLE
John is a Director and shareholder of Pacific Process Australia Pty Limited and resident director of Pacific Process Pty Limited. John is a qualified electrical engineer and tradesman with extensive experience in electronic control system design and implementation. John has designed, installed and commissioned a number of facilities in the FMCG sector of the food and beverage industry. This ranges from canned and bottled beverages, processed and cut cheese, confectionary products and materials handling systems of varying design. His experience in laying out and commissioning high speed canning, bottling and associated handling systems has led to much demand for his services in that sector. John has specialist skills in process line integration, line automation upgrades and development of MES. The joint venture between John’s existing company IPG and Pacific Process provides the group with additional electrical and systems automation capability.

CHRIS SCHEIDT
Chris is based in the United States and is the President of Pacific Process Construction Incorporated and General Manager of operations for Pacific Process US Incorporated. Chris holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Civil Engineering) from the University of Minneapolis and completed a year of engineering course work at The University of Melbourne in Australia. This combined with executive courses in Engineering specialties, people and commercial management. Chris has held positions ranging from Environmental Engineer through Project manager to Engineering manager for the Land o Lakes organization. This has given Chris significant exposure and experience with a vast array of technology options and processes across the dairy and stock feed industries. Chris has developed high level skills in project development, budgeting, cost tracking, equipment procurement, plant and process design, contracts, projects administration and project management.

MARK FARRELL
Mark joined Pacific Process in January 2012 and acts as the Groups Chief Financial Officer. Mark has an extensive thirty years plus experience in Financial Management and Control working in both Corporate and Private Organizations including his own. Together with Marks Accounting and Management qualifications he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in managing the finances, risk mitigation, statutory and legal compliance requirements and coordinating the support services for the Group’s International jurisdictions. This critical role supports all functions of the business ranging from commercial and financial management, contracting documentation and review to strategic planning, tactical initiatives and governance.
